Department Overview

The Digital Channel is one of TD’s key distribution channels. The Digital Channel has a global mandate and an enterprise-wide strategy for the digital channels across TD. The aim of the channel is to deliver an exceptional, seamless and effortless experience for customers and clients who manage their finances digitally. The Digital Channel is accountable for the digital customer experience strategy and design of products and services across businesses, specifically customer-facing digital interactions for public and transactional websites, and smartphone and tablet apps, for the Canadian investing and insurance arms of TD as well as Canadian and US banking.

Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Accessibility Analyst the Digital Accessibility Intern will be responsible for supporting the Digital Channels Accessibility team in its mission to ensure TD Digital web and mobile properties meet accessibility standards.  This role includes working with Digital Channels Accessibility team to communicate accessibility best practice and supporting project delivery teams by coordinating with project managers, QA, designers and external vendors.  The role also supports the team as it works with Governance and other partners to ensure projects meet defined industry standard Accessibility guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Update and publish Digital Channels Accessibility team processes and procedures including governance, design, and development and testing best practices. Content will be provided by Subject Matter Experts.
Support project teams to meet TD's Accessibility Standards, including during planning, design, build and test cycle.
Update and refresh Digital Channels Accessibility team PowerPoint training decks (Content will be provided by SMEs).
Develop an understanding of digital accessibility best practices
Develop, educate and socialize accessibility best practices within Digital Channel.

Skills required for this role

Strong written communication skills.
Enthusiasm for innovative digital technologies including mobile apps.
Enthusiasm for adopting new technologies.
Demonstrated competence in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software. 

Organizational and time-management skills with an ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
Willingness to learn about digital accessibility practices including assistive technology, best practices and standards.
Familiarity with inclusive design and accessibility best practices an asset.
Familiarity with assistive technologies an asset.
Experience in creating and publishing informational content, including guides and help sheets.

Knowledge of web and mobile app design and development methodologies and processes an asset.

Skills which will be developed in this role

Expert knowledge of digital accessibility best practices (web, mobile and documentation) including standards and techniques to meet them.
Knowledge of  assistive technologies including screen readers and screen magnifiers
Knowledge of  accessibility assessment techniques
Presenting training to small groups.
