Enerlife Consulting is seeking a candidate with a solid understanding of the design and workings of building energy systems to work directly with hospitals identifying emissions saving opportunities and supporting implementation. The right individual possesses the curiosity and ingenuity to join our ongoing exploration of high-performance, low carbon emitting buildings, and our continuing development of hands-on services, processes and tools to make every building the best it can be. With all levels of government declaring Climate Emergencies, we are seeing rising demand for tackling climate change and helping buildings achieve low carbon operations. The ideal candidate for this position is equally comfortable on site, in a design office environment, and in meetings with clients and contractors. Enerlife has a flexible hybrid work policy ranging from working in the office on a regular basis to fully remote. There is typically communication on a daily basis using Microsoft Teams or Zoom. Although most of the work is performed remotely or in the office there is a requirement to visit sites in-person in Toronto and other locations.
Position Profile:
- Support healthcare clients in identifying and implementing energy conservation measures.
- Track and report on savings using Enerlife analytical systems and provide technical support as needed to drive the results.
- Lead the technical interface with Greening Health Care (GHC) member hospitals, helping them understand their energy use profiles and savings potentials.
- Manage multiple hospital members and clients.
- Lead cohort research project including participant relations, technical support, project management, engineering and research.
- Advocate for energy efficiency and emissions reductions in the hospital sector.
- Support junior staff in training and career growth.
- Network to raise profile and bring in new members.
Essential skills:
- 10 years or more experience in building energy systems analysis, retrofit design or facility operations.
- Working knowledge of building automation systems, sequences of operation, and mechanical systems retro-commissioning.
- Experience working in or with hospital facility departments is preferred.
- Application of current ASHRAE 62.1, 90.1 and CSA Z317.2 standards and guidelines.
- Understanding cause and effect relationships between building design/operations and actual energy and water performance.
- Experience managing and developing engineering staff.
- Technical understanding, ability to relate to and influence GHC members.
- Discipline and organization in managing multiple assignments.
- Building and maintaining relationships and hospital information profiles.
- Working with teams, getting things done, producing deliverables on time.
- Proficient in Microsoft including MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
Preferred skills:
- Excellent written communications including emails, reports, proposals.
- Comfortable in public speaking including presenting content at webinars, workshops and conferences.
- Existing network among hospital facility managers and directors.
- Workload management and priority-setting.
