SCOPE OF POSITION: We are seeking a detail-oriented and governance-driven Data Steward to serve as the custodian of critical enterprise data. This role will be instrumental in ensuring data integrity, quality, and compliance across our IBM Master Data Management (MDM) platform and IBM Knowledge Catalog (IKC).
The Data Steward will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support data governance initiatives, enforce standards, and maintain trusted data assets that drive strategic decision-making.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Data Custodianship
o Serve as the primary steward for critical data domains, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency across systems.
o Monitor and validate data quality using IBM Stewardship Center.
o Resolve data discrepancies and support remediation efforts in collaboration with data owners and technical teams.
o Support data labeling activities.
o Adhere to all documented data management procedures.
• Data Governance
o Collaborate with analyst and project stakeholders to define and maintain metadata, business terms, classifications, and reference datasets in IBM Knowledge Catalog.
o Enforce data protection rules, privacy policies (e.g., PIA, GDPR), and access controls.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
o Partner with business and IT teams to support issue resolution and data governance initiatives.
o Provide training and guidance to business users on data governance principles and stewardship best practices.
POSITION PROFILE AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience in data stewardship, data governance, or master data management (MDM).
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
• Preferred Skills
o Experience with IBM Stewardship Center.
o Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, PIA).
o Knowledge of data classification, masking, and policy enforcement frameworks.
