Job Description:

The role is for our Insurance client located Toronto.

Hyrib role: 1 day downtown office

Reporting to the Inclusion & Employee Experience Manager, the Inclusion Specialist (Intern) is accountable for supporting the development, promotion, and enablement of Definity’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility (IDEA) strategy, commitments, and initiatives. The Specialist is expected to work closely with multiple Employee Groups to guide in fulfilling their mandate to identify barriers to inclusion. This role is highly cross-functional and ensures that programs and initiatives enhance the company’s reputation while bridging community and business goals to drive impact and momentum.

 

The main accountabilities will include:

 

Supporting with IDEA initiatives, ranging from corporate programs to Employee Group work, which involves attending meetings, providing coaching to EGs, supporting EG budget tracking and administrative duties as required.
Partnering with the Integrated Marketing & Communications (IMC) team to promote IDEA initiatives, and using creative marketing tactics to amplify communications through Viva Engage/Yammer.
Partnering with the Learning Team to provide monthly content for Definity Learning newsletter and supporting with organizing IDEA events that require registration through Definity Learning.
Researching and developing content for a foundational IDEA learning path for all employees, including anti-racism training, disability and accessibility training, and LGBTQ+ and Gender training.
Maintaining the Employee Experience Calendar and promoting IDEA Learning opportunities with partners like CCDI, Pride at Work, Indigenous Works.
Supporting with stewarding of charity partnerships (CCDI, Indigenous Works donations etc. M. Jean, etc.)
Partnering with the Talent Acquisition Team to provide support with onboarding new IDEA recruitment partners.
Supporting with Co-Chair responsibilities associated with the General Insurance HR Group (GIHRG) D&I Working Group, such as building the agenda, taking meeting minutes etc.
Updating and ongoing maintenance of IDEA share point site. 
Support with IDEA employer award submissions as needed.
Support with any other ad hoc IDEA requests as needed.

 

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you:

·       Have at least 2+ years of progressive, professional experience related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, accessibility, working with Employee Resource Groups and working on Corporate IDEA programming. 

·       Demonstrated knowledge and application of workplace inclusion concepts and methodologies.

·       Have strong attention to detail, organizational and project management skills.

·       Have excellent data analytical skills and research skills with the ability to interpret and present a strong story.

·       Are confident and have effective communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills.

·       Are goal, metric and results-oriented, with the ability to establish a keen sense of responsibility, accountability, and engagement among teams.

·       Are proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams etc.)

·       Fluent in French is an asset, but not a requirement.
