With locations across Canada, a B2B division and an active online sales team, we are seeking a full-time Logistics Coordinator to join our busy East Downtown Toronto Head Office.
Reporting directly to the Vice-President of Vistek, the successful candidate will provide analytical insights, process design recommendations and administrative support regarding the internal flow of goods at Vistek and will be specifically responsible for;
The Internal Logistics Coordinator analyzes the sales demand for all Vistek warehouses and stores to determine the stocking requirements at each location. By reviewing detailed movements of individual stock items, setting minimum and maximums per item per location and creating efficient transfer case lots, this role modifies the flow of goods to optimize inventory levels to service both eastern and western Canada.
Working with various departments:
The Internal Logistics Coordinator interacts with our store managers to understand their local store needs and become knowledgeable of any special orders or demand items to make sure needs are reacted to and goods are received in a timely manner. Works closely with the Purchasing department to ensure that they are sensitive and responsive to the stores’ needs especially for locally sourced items that are delivered directly to the stores. A key component to this role is to identify weakness in the processes surrounding your areas of responsible and work with the IT department to develop system solutions and better processes.
Efficient Inventory movement:
The Internal Logistics Coordinator is responsible for setting parameters regarding the transfer of goods to the various locations. This will require creating proper transfer units of measure, setting intelligent transfer schedules as well as analyzing transfer costs to ensure the best movement of goods.
In some cases it is prudent to allow salespeople to have items shipped directly to customers from different warehouses. The Internal Logistics Coordinator set the rules for sales people to follow regarding these types of shipments.
This role also sets the schedule of acceptable delivery dates for peak season to ensure that the warehouse is not handling large inbound shipments during peak sales times
Inventory receiving and shipping:
As part of Internal Logistics Coordinator responsibilities you will need to assess the current policies for receiving goods. This will include evaluating the process of handling urgent items and cross docking backorders, etc., and making recommendation on actions to improve the processes.
- Ideally, you have a minimum of 3–5 years of related experience in a logistics environment
- Analytical and critical information seeking skills
- Computer literate with Microsoft office suite including MS Excel skills
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)
- Proven process innovator and engineer
- ERP system knowledge would be considerable asset
- Organizational and time management skills
- Creative problem solver
- BI tool knowledge an asset
