By-law Administrator & Policy Analyst
This position will be responsible for reviewing and revising existing policies, municipal bylaws and standard operating procedure manuals for the By-law and Regulatory Services Department to ensure that they are up to date and consistent.
The successful candidate will also be required to analyze municipal bylaws, violation trends, best practices and research and develop an archive system for By-law related activity. This will include research and benchmarking against other municipal partners to recommend the best approach for revising, developing, processing and archiving of bylaws and related documents.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate would have the following attributes:
- Be a recent graduate in a discipline related to policy review and writing. Preference will be given to candidates with law, criminology or related bylaw fields.
- Can identify issues to be addressed, determines sources of relevant information, and analyzes a variety of data and information in order to develop a range of policy alternatives.
- Strong research and analytical problem-solving skills to support policy development decision-making processes.
- General understanding of municipal bylaws, provincial statutes and regulatory affairs.
- Comprehensive knowledge and use of policy writing, archiving and research tools.
- Excellent oral, writing and presentation skills.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
- Excellent organizational & information management skills.
- Self-directed and motivated and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Adaptable and flexible to meet needs as they are determined.
