The Operations Department is committed to delivering excellent customer service to Markham residents and monitoring services continuously to ensure high standard of maintenance are achieved. Our department is involved with the management, maintenance and improvement of lands and assets located within Markham’s public road allowance and in City parks.

Job Details:

Reporting to Technical Coordinator-Streetlight, the role is responsible for assisting the Streetlight & Utility team in coordination, administration, and inspection of Streetlight maintenance works and Utilities Municipal Consent permits.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Asses streetlight Active Citizen Requests (ACR) and create work orders on a daily basis using Markham’s Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system
  • Manage maintenance records within EAM and GIS databases
  • Perform streetlight inspections to confirm scope of work, verify repairs, and check new installations during subdivision acceptance stage
  • Utilize ArcGIS applications to produce maps and update map assets using as-built data
  • Support the streetlighting invoice review processes
  • Respond to enquirers/complaints related to streetlight and utilities construction in the City ROW
  • Assist utility team with municipal consent permits and mapping requirements
  • Assist in coordination and administration of the streetlight developer and accident cost recovery process
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently
  • Sound knowledge of Streetlight and other utility infrastructure
  • Adept at reading and understanding blueprints
  • Proficiency with the following Windows applications: ArcGIS and MS Office
  • Good Communication and project management Skills
  • Access to a personal vehicle for business purposes is preferred.(mileage compensated)
  • Full G driver's lincense is required for this role

Education:

Bachelor of civil engineering or electrical engineering at University or Diploma in engineering technician / technologist at College
