JOB SUMMARY
Working closely with the Project Engineer (Structural), this position will assist in carrying out the collection of preliminary design information for pedestrian bridges/ small culverts and drafting drawings for minor repair work for the purposes of tender as well as provide input the specifications.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Drafting of minor repair work for pedestrian bridges and small culverts
Gather/ arrange for the collection of preliminary design information for bridge maintenance and minor rehabilitation design such as field survey, soils information, utility locate, watercourse, embankment etc. Review structure inspection reports in accordance with the Ontario Structure Inspection Manual (OSIM) Prepare tender documents and evaluate tender submissions to retain contractor including the creation of in-house CAD drawings
Site Visitation to confirm scope of work and construction including any ad-hoc requirements
Ensures compliance to all regulations and structural codes by assuming roles and responsibilities as required.
Assisting in contract administration, preparing progress payment for approvals, attending site meeting and preparing the minutes of the meetings.
Financial administration of all capital projects.
Other duties as assigned including field visit and field assessments where required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Post Secondary Education in Civil Engineering; specialty in structures is preferred.
Experience directly related to the bridge inspection, design and contract administration (vehicular bridges, pedestrian bridges, culverts) projects is preferable
Familiarity with the structure’s materials such as soil, steel and concrete are preferred
Working knowledge of AutoCAD (Civil 3D), MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project Management applications;
A valid Class “G” driver’s license is required with a good driving record, and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.
Available to attend evening meetings outside of normal business hours.
