Summary:

A new role with Atura Power, the Junior Analyst is responsible for supporting the financial processes of the company by ensuring accurate data entry, maintaining financial records, and assisting in the payment process.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Accounts Payable:

  • Review invoices for appropriate documentation prior to processing
  • Assist with credit card and bank reconciliations
  • Assist with cash management (payments, bank transactions, etc.)
  • Liaise with vendors and internal stakeholders to obtain required payment information

Tax Remittances and Filing:

  • Prepare HST tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare withholding tax documentation for US vendors

Audit Support:

  • Provide support for external financial statements audits and CRA audits.

Process Improvement:

  • Continuously look for ways to improve current processes and reports for efficiency and automation.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement changes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline financial processes and reporting.

Other/Special Projects:

  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Controller.
  • Support monthly accounting activities and respond to ad hoc accounting requests from the Controllership team, including, preparation of journal entries and reconciliations

Requirements

  •    College diploma or university degree in Accounting or Finance
  •    1-3 years of experience in Accounts Payable
  •    Demonstrated Analytical Thinking and Problem-Solving skills to make things better
  •    Knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS
  •    Excellent interaction skills to elicit requirements and collaborate with various stakeholders
  •    Proficient with Microsoft Office with intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel
  •    Ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical personnel
  •    Experience of Microsoft Dynamics and Maximo is an asset
