We are seeking a passionate and creative Social Media Manager who will own select Events’ social media channels and help us build The Princess Margaret brand in the GTA and across Canada. About the Role
The Social Media Manager is a newly created position that will drive the social content strategy for two of our biggest events – the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer and The Weekend to Conquer Cancer. Reporting to the Ride’s Marketing Director, this individual will be responsible for developing content strategies and calendars, monitoring and responding on social channels, reporting, and working with the Creative Services team to ensure a consistent and impactful social presence. This role requires a big-picture thinker who can collaborate with multiple stakeholders while demonstrating strong cultural awareness.
You will:
- Develop social media strategies that span across multiple platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn)
- Work with the Ride and Weekend’s marketing teams to fully understand the marketing calendars and to optimize the implementation of a social media content strategy
- Lead the development and implementation of a content calendar
- Design and write compelling social media content independently and in collaboration with the Creative Services department where necessary to develop additional asset types (e.g. video, GIFs, etc.)
- Monitor conversations and comments across social media platforms to proactively engage with the audience, build a rapport, increase engagement, and address participant and/or donor issues or questions
- Act as ‘the voice’ of the Event, ensuring consistency across platforms
- Develop KPIs and report on progress on a regular basis
- Collaborate with The PMCF Brand social team to cross-promote and share content where applicable
- Manage and oversee influencer outreach activities, including developing relationships with influencers, creating and managing contracts, budgeting, ensuring influencers’ delivery of agreed-to items, reporting, etc.
You have:
- An aptitude for living and breathing social media content. You love keeping on top of the news, current events and changing trends
- 3-4 years’ social media management or social media analytics experience
- A degree or iploma in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or Public Relations
- Experience using Hootsuite and Meltwater considered an asset
- Agency or client-side experience preferred
- A detail-orientation with exceptional English writing and communication skills
- An understanding of social communities and cultural differences, as well as the ability to communicate with a wide variety of audience members
- Strong working knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube– you keep up-to-date on algorithm and platform changes and proactively inform teams of their impact
- Proven ability to contribute to the growth and increased engagement of social audiences
- Experience producing mutli-platform live streams, with OBS or restream an asset.
- A service-orientation with experience dealing with challenging/difficult customers or clients
- Non-profit, specifically peer-to-peer fundraising experience a plus
- A keen interest in cycling and an understanding of the cycling community (while still being able to relate to the “everyday / casual” cyclist)
- Flexibility and willingness to work some evenings and weekends when required
