Business Development Manager - Description
As a Business Development Manager at Peter Igel Foods, you will play a critical role in continuously identifying new Retail & Food Service sales opportunities and helping to achieve our revenue goals. In this role, you will be largely responsible for planning and executing sales at our existing customers as well as developing new markets, both in Retail and Food Service for us in Canada and the US. Product ideation, sourcing and procurement will also be part of your role, helping our clients expand their private label product portfolios. Additionally, you will have account management responsibilities ensuring our customers are always getting the best value from their relationship with us. You will be a critical member of our Sales team as we continue our organic growth. Responsibilities & Duties:
Create and implement strategic sales plans that successfully achieve business objectives
Develop and maintain positive relationships with key clients, including negotiating and closing on major contracts
Secure new customers and categories for growth.
Use available data to accurately forecast sales and set appropriate performance goals
Influence & support company Values
Participate in meetings and prepare weekly sales tracking reports.
Foster positive vendor and seller relationships
Qualifications/Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Business Administration, Marketing or equivalent experience
Minimum five years’ sales experience selling to a Retailer at Head Office level - existing client base an asset
International experience is a definite asset
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present strategy and results to staff members at every level of the organization
Excellent MS Office skills required, especially Excel and PowerPoint
An absolute customer obsession with the ability to create and maintain positive relationships with current and prospective clients
Demonstrated skill in negotiating and closing on critical sales contracts
Business savvy with an entrepreneurial mind set
Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively in a strong team environment
Positive attitude, energetic, passionate and driven to succeed
