Hot Docs owns and programs the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema, a century-old landmark located in Toronto’s Annex neighbourhood and the world’s first and largest documentary cinema. While closed during the current pandemic, Hot Docs is offering audiences across Canada access to first-run documentaries and curated programming and events on its Hot Docs at Home streaming service.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Hot Docs is seeking a part-time Bookkeeper to take on day-to-day financial administration including accounts receivable and payable, revenue reconciliation, distributor reporting, and other tasks as assigned by the Accounting Manager. The successful candidate will join a growing team responsible for the financial accounting of North America’s largest documentary festival, conference and market, working to create new systems and processes in a post-pandemic world.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administration and data entry of Accounts Receivable using Salesforce and Quickbooks.
- Daily preparation of cinema and festival box office reports for upload.
- Merchant account batch closures and reconciliations.
- Reconciliation of Visa and Amex credit card statement.
- Staff expense report reconciling and processing
- Accounts Payable receiving point, and preparation for entry.
- Some bank reconciliation work.
- Working with various departments on accounts receivable and reconciliation of registrations and submissions fees.
- Working with the festival and cinema programming teams to ensure box office reports are created and provided to distributors/filmmakers and subsequent invoices are obtained and processed in a timely fashion.
- General administrative support to the accounting manager and assistance in developing a paperless process for the accounting department.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- 1-3 years of Bookkeeping experience
- Working knowledge and experience with Quickbooks Premier Desktop version
- Proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft 365 applications
- Exposure to Salesforce and Moneris preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
