Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services (AAMHCS) is a Community Health Centre that is committed to and works to improve health outcomes for the most vulnerable immigrants, refugees, and their communities. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, the Finance & Reporting Officer supports the workflow of the finance office, with responsibilities including Reporting and Finance/Accounting duties (A/P, A/R, Reconciliations etc.) to meet the strategic and operational goals of Access Alliance. Reporting to the Finance and Operations Director, or designate, this position works both independently and collaboratively with staff, community partners, and volunteers.
Responsibilities:
Funder & Internal Reporting
Prepare and submit accurate financial reports to funders in compliance with contractual requirements and deadlines
Produce timely internal reports for managers to support program and operational decision-making
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Processing of payables according to established procedures including invoices and credit cards
Assist in streamlining and improving the A/P process
Support Finance Coordinator with funders’ reporting and funding proposal submission as it relates to accounts payable/payroll
Monthly entry of petty cash expenses to the system
Assist with payroll related budgeting/ forecasting preparation
Assist with Deposits reconciliation and Accounts receivable postings and related reports
Reconciliations & Year-End
Assist with bank and account reconciliations (HST, petty cash etc.)
Support the year-end audit process by preparing schedules, documentation, and reconciliations
Financial Systems & Processes
Maintain and ensure accuracy of financial records in QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop and QuickBooks Online
Assist with implementing process improvements and special finance-related initiatives
Other Duties
Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial compliance and accuracy
Take on additional finance-related tasks as assigned
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
3-5 years of accounting experience preferably in non-profit and unionized environment, is required
Minimum post-secondary accounting/bookkeeping education is required
Advanced MS Office Skills (Word and Excel) is required
Demonstrates a commitment to work from an integrated anti-oppression framework
Preferred
Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise and QuickBooks Online
Familiarity with government or foundation funding requirements and related funder reporting
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Good interpersonal skills with both clients, volunteers, students and co-workers
Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
Asset
Payroll experience and familiarity with HRIS and ADP payroll system
Ability to improve multiple administrative systems and policies
The ability to proactively identify issues, propose and implement solutions
Demonstrated ability to improve multiple administrative systems and policies
Bargaining Unit: This position is not part of the bargaining unit.
