Job Title: Junior Accountant

Location: Pickering - Hybrid

About the Role:

The Junior Accountant supports the Finance function in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring timely processing of accounting transactions. This role is ideal for an early-career professional looking to develop hands-on experience across core accounting functions, including reconciliations, invoicing, month-end support, and financial reporting.


Key Responsibilities
•Manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing, payment runs and vendor reconciliations
•Analyze financial trends and aging of payables to identify risks and optimize cash flow
•Assist with the onboarding of new vendors
•Prepare and post journal entries and support general ledger maintenance
•Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy
•Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, delivering variance commentary to senior leadership providing actionable insights
•Perform regular bank, credit-card, vendor and key balance-sheet reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies to support accurate financial reporting
•Support month-end and year-end close activities, including schedules and variance analysis
•Maintain organized and accurate financial records in accordance with company policies and accounting standards
•Assist with taxation and compliance tasks (e.g., HST/GST) and audit support as required
•Develop streamlined financial processes and recommended improvements to increase operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience


•Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
•1-3 years of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience
•Experience handling mid to high volume AP/AR entries, and reconciliations
•Experience with accounting software with QuickBooks is mandatory, other systems will be considered an asset
•Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (basic formulas, spreadsheets, reconciliations)
•Previous experience implementing process and building accounting models
• Self-starter who is eager to learn, and has a keen curiosity to explore and develop solutions
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to multi-task, and change priorities constantly as needed in a fast-paced environment
