Job Description:

We are hiring an administrative auto appraiser for one of our clients based out of Toronto.

About the Role

The Appraiser’s role is to prepare/review vehicle appraisals for sale and evaluate and review securities to determine Market Values for repossession. This individual will receive queues from the related Account Representative, Recovery Department to determine if the security in question has sufficient equity to proceed with Repossession. They will conduct appraisals based on condition reports and photos provided, research using Canadian Black Book, Carproof, Industry publications, the Internet, and dealer network. Using this information, the Appraiser will determine approximate Market Values for securities. They will also be responsible for auditing and corresponding with suppliers to ensure the quality of information meets or exceeds the client's appraisal standards. This individual will work independently while providing support to their manager. They will also assist in the online remote disposition of units as required. The Appraiser will need to maintain and continuously develop their knowledge of vehicle information such as year, make, model, and trim levels. They will use their knowledge and experience to ensure the highest quality, efficiency, and adherence to company standards.

What will you be doing

  • Appraise securities and remote sell. Ensure daily productivity targets are met within prescribed timelines.
  • Ensure daily market and equity value requests are completed in a timely and efficient manner. Stay within or exceed daily equity evaluation targets.
  • Ensure all tasks and internal queues are actioned and completed per the aligned work instructions within the prescribed timelines; follow standard operating procedures; action items according to task matrix; ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of and stay abreast of vehicle information. Participate in automotive shows throughout the year and continuously develop/enhance own industry-related knowledge.
  • Update/relay important information to management. Maintain and increase knowledge of the automotive industry; ensure changes are reported to management on time.

About You

  • High school diploma
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • OMVIC certified (may be obtained post-hire but candidates must be aware that they will be required to complete the course and pass their test as a requirement of employment)
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office software
  • Able to work independently
  • Must anticipate challenges and ensure processes are in place to identify possible risks and minimize the impact
  • 2-3 years experience in a similar role
  • Industry experience is an asset
  • Proven ability to conduct vehicle research using Canadian Black Book and other similar resources
